Upon this gifted age, in its dark hour,
Rains from the sky a meteoric shower
Of facts...
they lie unquestioned, uncombined.

Wisdom enough to leech us of our ill
Is daily spun; but there exists no loom
To weave it into fabric...

- Edna St. Vincent Millay
from "Huntsman, What Quarry?" (1939)

Throughout this report, the authors have pointed to ways that not-for-profit organizations, news media outlets and information technology firms can improve their ability to create social capital.

Our community's communication system and its content are powerful components of this equation. But to actualize the potential of the communications revolution, each of these sectors and the citizens they serve must be willing to do their part to weave the social fabric upon which our quality of life relies.

The authors have examined many facts while researching and writing this report. Our hope is that this work may help create a measure of wisdom that can leech us of our communications ills. The following recommendations are not meant to be conclusive. Rather, they are meant to inspire action and collectively get us on our way.
